Ranks and Classes
There were 3 ranks in Pompeian society, There was the lowest rank, middle rank and the highest rank.The lowest rank was for the slaves, the slaves were looked past and weren't given a second glance. The slaves were supposed to follow and obey their masters, and in an emergency they were supposed to go where their masters go. The slaves had no say until they have been set free by there masters then they can do whatever they want. The middle class is for the business man and slightly better off people, an example or a business man is a man owning a company, in
- Magistrates- the highest rank
- Consuls- people who managed army, affairs or the government and could veto each other
- Praetors- the judges
- Aediles- looked after the buildings, games and food supplies
- Questors- managed financial and administrative matters
- tribunes- representatives of the plebeians
- Plebeians- ordinary citizens such as farmers,soldiers and townsfolk
